If you love froggy visitors in your yard each year, there are plenty of things you can do to encourage them to visit more often. Frog-friendly habitats are crucial for these critters to flourish. As with any animals, they obviously need water, but they also need a place to rest and hide, as well as food sources.
A pink manta ray! This is the stuff out of Dr. Dolittle, yet it's totally real. Photographer Kristian Laine was taking pictures of the wildlife at the Great Barrier Reef when he captured photos of the world's only known pink manta ray.
You know your band is beloved when it's still making the headlines decades after the loss of your lead singer. Here are just a few top stories about the Dead this week.
Paper dolls were pretty basic when I was a kid. You punched them out and they had a few outfits, maybe an accessory or two. When my kid was little, I remember getting a set of magnetic paper dolls, which was pretty cool, too. But last week my sister bought my niece some that had so many outfits it was almost overwhelming.
One of the major problems with renewable energy such as wind and solar is the fact that they are intermittent. A lot of interesting schemes have been hatched and some prototypes developed to address this issue. Water could be pumped up hill, large heavy blocks could be lifted and lowered, underground caverns could be utilized, etc.
I write this blog on nuclear issues every day. I also write a blog on space at spacereport.com every week. Currently I am considering assisting in the creation of a blog about the Covid-19 virus. With all the problems in the world today, the Covid-19 virus is looming larger and larger. It will have a huge impact on human society.
We talk a lot about different ways to get the word out about pet adoption, but many companies are getting creative about it. A furniture store in Missouri not only encourages it on their radio ads, but they operate a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. A pizza company in New York is now posting flyers of available dogs on their pizza boxes and sweetening the deal: if you adopt a dog, you get a $50 pizza gift card.
If you're a lover of all things creepy, the Creepy Crafters marketplace will be just for you! The coming soon online hub will feature creepy art and handmade collectibles from various independent artists and crafters.
If you're an artist, you can sign up for free to get started, and if you're a buyer, you can sign up now to get notified once it's off the ground. The Lost Angeles-based company will have everything from prints and jewelry to dolls and puppets. If it's creepy, it will probably be there.
It's a great time to catch up on some reading, and I was fortunate enough to get my hands on The Witch Boy books 1 and 2 by Molly Ostertag before my library closed. I haven't read the third book yet but having enjoyed these two I'm looking forward to it.
My family has a lot of Irish heritage, but we're not so much into the whole "St. Patrick's Day" thing so much as just celebrating Ireland, Irish food, culture and that sort of thing. So rather than making, say, green popcorn, in recent years we've made soda bread. (We've totally made green popcorn in the past and if that's your thing, enjoy it!)
While too many Americans are still partying like its 1999, I'm so proud of the many who've chosen to engage in social distancing to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Then there are many citizens in states that are under mandatory self-quarantine, which is likely where we're all headed.
