Werewolf Cats

To be fair, a lot of cats would consider themselves to be creatures of the night, but the Lykoi is a special species of cat that actually looks like a werewolf. This domestic shorthair has a mutation that causes its hair to stay bald around its ears in patches, creating a wolf-like appearance.

Container Projects At Home

Are you doing any gardening projects at home right now? Many Americans are bitten by the gardening bug, whether it's due to their normal gardening activities or because they're looking for new hobbies to do at home, and there are all kinds of fun ways to explore gardening.

Cold-Blooded Frogs Used To Live On Antarctica

Today we worry about rising temperatures in places like Antarctica, but we're also aware of the fact that it wouldn't be the first time the continent had a warmer climate. Scientists have discovered fossils in Antarctica that prove that no only did cold-blooded frogs once live there, but those frogs are even related to a species of frogs that live in South America today.

Voting From Home

Between work, raising families, disabilities, travel and everyday responsibilities, it's already hard enough to vote for many Americans. We don't get a national holiday to vote like some countries do, and many people work 12-hour shifts that take place during voting times. Sure, companies are obligated to allow time off for voting, but they aren't always so kind about it, and many employees would rather not rock the boat than ask for time off to vote.

With so much online programming going on, it's almost overwhelming. FOMO is already a thing, but now a lot of us don't even have the excuse of not being able to get somewhere because of time or transportation issues; it's all at home. Luckily many opportunities we have to stream are easily found and able to be seen at our leisure from platforms like YouTube.

Studies about whether or not coffee is healthy for us continue to trickle in each year, leaving us wondering how healthy it is to drink our favorite pick-me-up. The latest study from Sweden states that as long as it's filtered, coffee is better for your heart and may even reduce risk of death by 15%. Drip coffee is a pretty common way of enjoying the drink, so many people may already reaping these benefits.

Whether you're gazing out the window, hustling a side gig to survive or learning to play a new instrument, there are many different ways people are surviving this national emergency right now. Some are turning toward art and caring for animals, even wild ones, to pass the time, and many of these people have done some pretty creative stuff.

Games For Home Learning

While many people scramble over incorporating home education, it's important to just do your best, give yourself a break and remember that kids learn best when they connect with material. Playing games is a great way to ensure they do! As a homeschooler of 14 years, I play games on a weekly basis and most of my favorites are of the simple variety--Boggle and Scrabble work wonders for spelling, for example, and playing War and Memory are great for introducing younger kids to various concepts.

Fun Cooking Challenges For The Family

Many Americans are experimenting with new recipes these days while they spend more time at home, and it's the perfect opportunity to not only to learn how to cook, or teach the kids how to do it, but to actually experiment in the kitchen for some fun. There are all kinds of fun challenges you can do, from your own Chopped night with pre-selected ingredients to assigning each member of the family a dish to create a mini potluck.

Wrapping Up National Poetry Month

sarajean's picture

National Poetry Month and National Poetry Writing Month are nearly at their end, which means it's time to... keep reading and celebrating poetry! There's no need to stop just because April is over! You can even still keep using many of these resources to enjoy poetry each day, but before April is over, have you...

Connected with a totally new-to-you poet?

Tried reading a moving poem you love aloud? Maybe via Zoom to someone you care about?

Initially, SpaceX had intended to hop the SN3 about five hundred feet. However, since the collapse of the SN3, SpaceX now intends to make test hops with the SN4. If they do, they will only be small hops that do not require that the Raptor engines be relit.
