Part 2 of 2 Parts (Please read Part 1 first)
In 1978, William Pierce, the founder of the neo-Nazi group named National Alliance published “The Turner Diaries” under the pen name of Andrew Macdonald. The novel sold over half a million copies worldwide and is still very popular among white supremacists.
If you have a cat lover in your life, you're in luck. There are SO many wonderful gifts for cat lovers, from earrings to stationary and even treats, that you're bound to find something purrrfect for your cat lover!
Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to have some yummy goodies! Why not make your favorite dessert and share it with the people you live with, or drop it off as a porch dropoff for the people you love? In my house, I think we'll be making brownies with some swirls inside! Fudge, raspberry... any little variation would be nice.
Recently the musicians of Barcelona found themselves practicing for a group of not people, but plants recently! As they prepared to reopen, they decided to perform for a room full of plants for their rehearsal performance. Afterward they decided to give the plants to people as a donation to health care workers.
Like all holidays, Valentine's will look a little different this year, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate love between everyone, from roommates to partners, family members to friends to ourselves! But what is a person under quarantine to do?
By now many of us are getting tired of playing the same games over zoom and we're brining much more interesting games to the table. In some cases, this means they take a walk down strange street, and stores like Spencer's and Hot Topic are known to carry at least a few of these.
The other day I saw a post about a mom who makes perpetual stew. I had no idea people actually made it at home! I always thought it was a restaurant or business venture and not something families wanted. But this mom was very excited to share how she makes it for her house of growing teens.
Making homemade cocktails is a wonderful way to pass the time at home. You can learn new recipes, experiment with new flavors and become a knowledgeable barista while in quarantine!
My teen volunteers at the local shelter as a reading buddy to dogs and cats, but I had never heard of a similar program that does the same activity with horses until I saw Saddle Up and Read. The program does farm reading sessions, outreach and more to help kids master the art of reading!
The program is so simple that it works. Kids only have to check out a few books to participate and the reward is substantial. What kid wouldn't want to meet a horse?
Hugs are so good for you. Daily hugs can help with anxiety and stress, not to mention just make you feel better. Unfortunately that's not very helpful for the many people living in quarantine right now, which is why The Nicest Place might be of some help. It's where you can get hugs from people online without ever touching anyone physically.
You can scroll through and get hugs from different people. You can add your own little greeting to give hugs to others, too! It's just a really fun idea to help people cope.
It's 2021 and animals are still killed for their skin just to make products for humans. That is the weirdest animal story I know. People actually keep dogs and cats in their homes but somehow they are okay with killing animals of a similar intelligence just for a purse or shoes.
Pick of the Litter is a must-see movie for animal lovers. It's about guide dogs for people with blindness and it follows them from puppyhood all the way until they graduate. It's about their training and all of the people involved as well as the relationships that develop along the way.
Curious Elixirs is already a really cool company that sells alcohol-free cocktails but now they're even cooler. They are offering grants to help support artists during the pandemic and submissions for applications are due on February 15.
If there's ever been a great time to start writing a pen pal, quarantine has to be it! Back in the 80s so many people had pen pals and created rewarding long distance relationships. Today people still find pen pals to write via email but writing actual snail mail isn't as big as it once was.
Parodies are often our favorite form of entertainment. I think it has something to do with them affecting the part of us that loves nostalgia and remembering our favorite movies and TV shows (or ripping on them!). Family Guy has no shortage of parodies in its history, like any good animated adult show, and lots of fans have their favorites.
