It's so embarrassing when my teenager corrects me about a fact that I thought was real my whole life sometimes. It's usually something I learned in school, a little nugget I tucked away for some random Jeopardy tournament. "Nope," my teen will inform me. "It's a common misconception but it's been disproven," or, "That's really just an urban legend." Then, of course, I have to look it up and wonder if the same teachers explaining that are the ones who taught these things in the first place. Hey, it's often not their fault; it's the curriculum they use.
There are so many funny, cute and plain fun animal TikToks to follow that it's impossible to choose a favorite. I tend to follow both funny and cute ones, but I think I do like the funny ones best.
A couple of days ago, my trio of cats lined up to look outside one window before I had a chance to open the other windows. It was adorable to see them lined up, all on different levels, but also a bit surreal. I referred to them as cat sidhe searching for prey, and who knows? Maybe they are.
Like many Millennials, I'm a little obsessed with TikTok these days. It's bound to happen when you're home as much as we are, right? There are so many great drink recipes to be had on TikTok, including the latest Corona Tequila Sunrise challenge, but I'd like to talk about Quincy's Tavern.
As someone who spent my teen years in a trailer park, I definitely would NOT want the Upside Down to make an appearance. All stereotypes aside, there were definitely some dangerous people there, and I saw a few trailers completely destroyed by tornados. Nope. No demogorgons, please!
Do you find it amusing to check your zodiac sign against your favorite celebrities (especially celeb crushes)? Do you find it amusing to check your horoscope at all? If so you might think it's fun to see which Family Guy character has your same zodiac sign!
If you're really into astrology, you know it's much more complicated than your sun sign alone, and you probably want the exact time of birth of each character to really assess how similar you are! That's okay, this is just for fun.
Remember when we shared the adorable dancing bears bobbleheads a few weeks ago? Well now they have a set of dancing skeletons and OMG. I am here for it. I want these skeletons so much more than the cute bears! I'd get all of them, too!
Aren't they so spooky cute? I think that's my new favorite aesthetic. I've always liked it but wow, it's everywhere right now and easy to find. I can't wait to see what other cute things they'll come up with!
We're right in the middle of my state's legislative session and it's been an incredibly busy time. I've been writing, calling, text banking and preparing to testify before my state committees (only to not testify, since they're not giving priority to people waiting to testify from home--and my state isn't requiring masks in our capitol building).
It's such an exciting news: Representative Debra Haaland, former New Mexico Democratic Party, has finally been confirmed as the new Secretary of Interior under the Biden Administration. Haaland is the first indigenous person to serve in this critical role, and her services gives many of us hope that not only more representation will occur, but that we will finally take those incredibly important steps toward protecting the environment and combatting climate change.
It's the time of year to find lots of fun frog decorations for sale that are perfect for decorating your home and garden with. From figurines to functional items, like toad homes, bird feeders and other whimsical garden items, you can almost find them anywhere.
Scientists want to understand what's really going on while we dream, which is why it makes sense to want to be able to communicate with people while they are asleep. But now that scientists have been able to connect with lucid dreamers with simple back and forth communication, it makes you wonder just what will be done with the information.
While I have strong Irish heritage in my family, I'm not a big fan of St. Patrick's Day. I'm not a big drinker, which pretty much renders half of the holiday's celebrations void for me, but I'm also not a fan of the running of "snakes," or pagans, out of a nation. That said, I totally get the appeal of everything from gold coins and leprechauns (which some Irish people don't like, by the way) to corned beef and potatoes. Potatoes are something I can get behind!
It's the time of year to start looking for some fun gardening pots and accessories! You can find planters in just about any store this time of year, whether you want something functional and practical like terra cotta planters or something plastic and bright. I love using old mugs for small plants and hanging baskets for larger ones myself.
Do you have trouble keeping even the easiest plants alive? I know I do sometimes, especially if my pets knock one over (I've never been able to keep an un-potted plant alive once I repot it for some reason!) or if I underestimate or overestimate its needs. There have always been fake plant alternatives, but they can be pretty dusty and ugly sometimes.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO) have agreed to collaborate on enhancing the use of advanced nuclear technologies, including isotopic, accelerator and research reactor-based techniques, to respond to recent environmental challenges and contribute to a sustainable environment.
