Oregon Food Bank CEO Susannah Morgan says that after seeing so many people affected by Covid and needing help with getting enough food, the resource is going to make it a priority to address the root causes of food insecurity now. Morgan points out that it's not access to food that people need; it's the eradication of systemic poverty, racial and economic injustice and lack of both physical and mental healthcare.
Lately there have been so many memes shared about how much we Millennials miss our Scholastic Book Fairs. Even when we couldn't afford to buy anything it was still exciting to go through those little paper catalogs and circle all the things we wished we could get. As a big Coke Zero fan (I know, I know, it's not a great addiction to have), I'm wincing as I read that the company is "refreshing" both the design... and the formula. There's a popular trend to blame parents for everything from mouthy teen comments (a normal part of teenhood as the frontal lobe develops) to generations "killing Applebee's" these days, so it's no wonder that the latest one really lays it on thick. It's to heal from your trauma before you have kids so they don't have to heal from trauma inflicted by you.
As Americans live longer while wages remain stagnant and college debt soars, a new midlife crisis has sprung upon us. Elder Millennials are finding themselves turning 40 this year and facing aging parents who need care on one hand and children with bleak job prospects and college debt on the other while still dealing with their own lack of savings, student loans and other debts.
